12 And (A)they were seeking to arrest him (B)but feared the people, for they perceived that he had told the parable against them. So they (C)left him and went away.

13 (D)And they sent to him some of (E)the Pharisees and some of (F)the Herodians, to (G)trap him in his talk. 14 And they came and said to him, “Teacher, (H)we know that you are true and do not care about anyone's opinion. For (I)you are not swayed by appearances,[a] but truly teach (J)the way of God. Is it lawful to pay (K)taxes to (L)Caesar, or not? Should we pay them, or should we not?”
